**Guest:** (Name withheld for safety reasons) It’s been a harrowing journey.I was arrested in early December during a crackdown on migrant trafficking. I was terrified and desperate. The conditions in prison were… tough. I felt trapped, hopeless. in that moment, I saw no other way out.
**Editor:** You attempted suicide while in prison. Can you tell us a bit about what you were going through at that time?
**Guest:** It was a dark time. I was overwhelmed by fear and despair. Being separated from my family, facing an uncertain future… it felt unbearable. I just wanted the pain to stop.
**Editor:** After your suicide attempt, you were transferred to a psychiatric facility and then to the UMBL. What happened there?
**Guest:** The psychiatric facility wouldn’t accept me. They said they couldn’t provide the care I needed. At UMBL, I felt even more vulnerable. I couldn’t understand the language, the medical staff seemed distant. I panicked. I felt I had no choice but to escape.
**Editor:** You are now at large, facing potential legal repercussions.What are your plans? Do you intend to seek asylum in Bulgaria?
**Guest:** I am scared. I don’t know what the future holds.My primary concern is my safety. I will have to make decisions based on what I believe will protect me.
**Editor:** You are just one of many migrants who risk their lives trying to reach Europe. What message would you like to send to people who are considering making a similar journey?
**Guest:** My journey has been filled with pain and uncertainty. It’s a desperate gamble.I urge people to think carefully about the risks involved. There are other ways to seek help, other paths to a better life.
