Syrian Health: The death toll from the earthquake rose to 237 deaths and 639 injuries

The ministry stated – according to the Syrian News Agency (SANA) – that the victims fell in the governorates of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama and Tartous, noting that the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad chaired an emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers; To investigate earthquake damage.
In turn, the Ministry of Defense announced the mobilization of its units, formations and institutions to provide immediate aid and urgent assistance to the population affected by the earthquake in all governorates.

The ministry said – in a statement – “The Ministry of Defense is mobilizing all its units, formations, and institutions in all governorates to provide immediate aid and urgent assistance to the people affected by the earthquake, to search for people trapped under the rubble, to treat the injured, and to remove traces of destruction.”

For its part, the Russian embassy in Damascus indicated that Syria has not yet submitted a request to Russia for assistance in overcoming the effects and repercussions of the earthquake, which struck a number of areas and left huge human and material losses.

“So far, we have not received requests, the earthquake just happened, we will see how the situation develops,” said the Russian ambassador to Syria, Alexander Yefimov – according to (Russia Today) news channel.

And the Syrian Assistant Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Damiriya, had confirmed earlier that readiness had been raised in the hospital ambulance departments in all governorates, and the response teams that transport the injuries had been mobilized, pointing out that the general emergency plan and the supply plan for supplies and medicines had been implemented to supply the affected places.
