Uniquely, this film was inspired by the dilemma experienced by the novel writer, Berliana Kimberly. Kim said that when writing this novel, he was inspired by events that happened to him, one of which was his failure to get a scholarship to Korea.

“So, at that time I said, ‘one day I will return for a master’s degree to Korea,’ but fate was not on my side, so I didn’t do a master’s degree in Korea in 2022, and that was one of the inspirations,” said Kim.

This film also raises issues of women, Muslim women, the history of Islamic civilization, and family law in Indonesia. These themes are also related to the profession of the author, who is a lawyer and researcher in the field of Islamic family law in Indonesia.

Haia’s journey when she first arrived in Korea, seeing the Han River, going to Namsan Tower, and meeting someone as friendly as Haneul in the film, was also experienced by the writer when she visited Korea.

“What Haia went through when she saw Korea went to Namsan Tower and met someone as kind and warm as Haneul, I also experienced on my trip in 2018-2019,” said Kim.

According to Kim, this film does not lose the essence of the novel he wrote. He said that 80% of the stories filmed were the same as those in the novel. (Z-10)
