On Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 3:03 PM, the UAE Embassy in Cairo organized a symposium in honor of “Zayed Humanitarian Work Day.” Her Excellency Maryam Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, and His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Al-Orabi, former Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, were both in attendance. The UAE has consistently been recognized as the world’s largest donor of humanitarian aid relative to national income. The UAE remains committed to humanitarian initiatives and has sent over 3,000 tons of medical aid to more than 142 countries to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. During the symposium, Her Excellency said, “The UAE commemorates, on the 19th of Ramadan every year, Zayed’s Day for Humanitarian Work, in memory of the passing away of the founder of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul.” For his approach to giving and continuing the good deeds that he planted, fulfilling his biography and drawing inspiration from his wisdom.
Her Excellency added that Zayed Humanitarian Work Day is an embodiment of the noble human values established by the late Sheikh Zayed, may God rest his soul, among the values of giving, altruism and doing good, which are among the most important characteristics inherent in the people of the UAE, and also a dedication to their principles, ideas and strategies in humanitarian work. She pointed out that Sheikh Zayed focused on projects that benefited and benefited people, such as housing, construction and land reclamation projects, hospitals, schools, and cultural and educational centers.
She said, “The UAE is one of the first countries to support humanitarian initiatives during the Covid-19 pandemic, as it sent about 3,000 tons of medical aid to more than 142 countries to support their efforts in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. More than 40 donors and institutions are launching from the UAE today.” Humanitarian and charitable assistance covers all countries of the world and needy and affected peoples, so that the UAE remains the capital of humanitarian work in the world.
