For some time now, the facade of a building on the Promesse in the city center of Lelystad has been completely covered with posters. “New in the neighborhood, but not new in Lelystad,” is written in large letters on the door. Anyone standing at a distance will not be able to read what is on the 88 posters, but anyone coming closer can see that the Sya Skin Clinic skin clinic will be located on the site where Appetito restaurant used to be.
“A skin clinic is often confused with a beautician, but we are really different,” says owner Sumeyra Acikgoz. In the clinic she provides treatments for acne, pigmentation spots and scars, among other things.
Sya Skin Clinic is currently located on the business park along Middendreef. But business is going well and the clinic is expanding at the seams. “So I have been looking for a new building for a while,” says Sumeyra.
Search for suitable property
You would think that a new building would be quickly arranged in a city where one in five retail properties is vacant. But in this case it was still quite a search. For example, in the front part of the Promesse, where HEMA is located, the buildings did not have the correct zoning plan.
“And further down the center I just didn’t think the buildings were that nice, because you also look at the aesthetic aspects of a building.”
The owner cannot yet say when the clinic on Promesse will open. “We are still undergoing a lot of renovation work. But it should be open within the next year and a half.”
Skin Deep: Sya Skin Clinic’s New Adventure in Lelystad
Ah, Lelystad—where the buildings are not just structures, they’re a canvas for the artistic expression of “We can’t find tenants!” A place where retail properties are as vacant as my social calendar on a Friday night, and yet somehow our fabulous Sumeyra Acikgoz has decided to plough ahead into the commercial wasteland that is the Promesse. Hold onto your hats, folks, because it sounds like Sya Skin Clinic is about to inject a bit of pizzazz into the local skincare scene!
New in the Neighborhood, Yet So Familiar
Now, you’d think the most exciting part of a new skin clinic would be its cutting-edge treatments. But no, my friends! The excitement starts with the 88 posters plastered on the building façade shouting “New in the neighborhood, but not new in Lelystad!” It’s a bit like an ex waving at you from across the street—attention-grabbing, perhaps, but you’re left wondering why they didn’t just stay put in the first place.
But before we dive into the avenger of acne and pigmentation, let’s clarify her mission. Apparently, Sya Skin Clinic is not just another beautician’s den where you can pop in for a quick facial and leave smelling like a summer festival. No, Sumeyra is here to tackle the pesky problems like acne, scars, and pigmentation spots. You see, she’s ready to convince the population of Lelystad that skincare isn’t just about looking pretty—it’s also about being healthy. Quite the revolutionary concept for a town dealing with more vacant retail space than actual retail!
The Quest for the Perfect Property
Now, you’d think finding a suitable building in a city crawling with empty shops would be as easy as swiping left on an unsatisfactory Tinder date. Unfortunately, it wasn’t so straightforward for Sumeyra. According to her, the front part of the Promesse, where HEMA is located, wasn’t suitable because it didn’t have the right zoning plan. I mean, when did zoning plans become the ultimate gatekeepers of a skincare empire? You’ll find it hard to believe, but even in the land of vacant shops, there are rules that’ll make your skin crawl!
To make matters spicier, Sumeyra decided some buildings were just too ugly for her aesthetic sensibilities. Let’s just say, it turns out not every property can have the regal ambience of Buckingham Palace! Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder, and judging by her critique, it seems like her standards may be higher than my hopes of winning the lottery!
When’s the Grand Opening?
So when can we expect this beacon of skin saviness to open its doors? Well, it’s still shrouded in mystery, much like the healing powers of some of those dubious skincare creams we’ve all regretted buying in the past. Sumeyra promises that the clinic will be ready to transform faces within the next year and a half. A year and a half? At this rate, I’ll have turned into a skincare zombie by the time she’s ready to consult on my pigmentation problems!
All in all, folks, the Sya Skin Clinic may just be the breath of fresh air that Lelystad didn’t know it needed. So, the next time you’re strolling through the Promesse, keep an eye out for those eye-catching posters. They could just lead you to a smoother, more confident version of yourself—or, at the very least, a good giggle at the sheer audacity of doing business in the land of vacancy!
For some time now, the facade of a prominent building on the bustling Promesse in the heart of Lelystad has been entirely draped in eye-catching posters. “New in the neighborhood, but not new in Lelystad,” boldly declares the signage positioned at the entrance. While passersby may struggle to decipher the text on the 88 vibrant posters from afar, a closer inspection reveals the unveiling of Sya Skin Clinic, which will be taking over the space previously occupied by Appetito restaurant, a popular local dining spot.
“A skin clinic is often confused with a beautician, but we are really different,” emphasizes owner Sumeyra Acikgoz, shedding light on the unique services her clinic will provide. At Sya Skin Clinic, patients can expect specialized treatments targeting conditions such as acne, pigmentation spots, and various types of skin scars, showcasing the clinic’s commitment to advanced dermatological care.
Sya Skin Clinic is currently situated in a business park along Middendreef, yet due to the booming popularity of her services, the clinic has found itself rapidly outgrowing its current location. “So I have been looking for a new building for a while,” reveals Sumeyra, underscoring the necessity for expansion to accommodate her growing clientele.
Search for suitable property
You would think that securing a new building would be a straightforward task in a city like Lelystad, where one in five retail properties stands vacant. However, for Sumeyra, the search has proven to be challenging. In particular, the front segment of the Promesse, where HEMA is established, presented zoning issues that disqualified those buildings for her intended use.
“And further down the center I just didn’t think the buildings were that nice, because you also look at the aesthetic aspects of a building,” she adds, indicating that finding a suitable and visually appealing establishment was crucial in her decision-making process.
The owner does indicate that it’s still too early to determine the exact opening date for the Promesse location. “We are still undergoing a lot of renovation work,” she notes. Nevertheless, she optimistically anticipates that the clinic will welcome its first clients within the next year and a half, marking an exciting new chapter for Sya Skin Clinic in Lelystad.
**Interview with Sumeyra Acikgoz, Owner of Sya Skin Clinic**
**Editor:** Thanks for joining us, Sumeyra! It’s exciting to see Sya Skin Clinic making its way to the Promesse in Lelystad. What inspired this move?
**Sumeyra Acikgoz:** Thanks for having me! The decision to move was driven by our growth. We’ve been expanding at our current location along Middendreef, and I felt we needed a space that reflects the quality and professionalism of the treatments we offer. The Promesse area is vibrant and offers the foot traffic we need to reach more clients.
**Editor:** I love the eye-catching poster campaign you’ve launched! “New in the neighborhood, but not new in Lelystad” really captures attention. Can you tell us more about the message behind it?
**Sumeyra:** Absolutely! I wanted to convey that while we are new to this particular location, Sya Skin Clinic has been part of the Lelystad community for a while now. We aim to differentiate ourselves from typical beauticians by specializing in medical skincare treatments like acne, pigmentation spots, and scars. It’s about promoting healthy skin, not just beauty.
**Editor:** You mentioned that finding a suitable property was a challenge, even with many vacant shops in the area. What were some of the obstacles you faced?
**Sumeyra:** Yes, it was quite a journey! Despite many retail spaces being empty, zoning regulations limited several buildings. Some just didn’t have the right kind of aesthetics for what I envisioned. I wanted our clinic to reflect our brand’s ethos—professional, clean, and inviting. It took a bit of searching, but I think we’ve found the perfect spot.
**Editor:** When can the residents of Lelystad expect to see Sya Skin Clinic open for business?
**Sumeyra:** We’re currently undergoing renovations, so it’s hard to pin down an exact opening date. But we’re aiming to be ready within the next year and a half. I promise it will be worth the wait!
**Editor:** That’s fantastic to hear! What can potential clients look forward to when you open your doors?
**Sumeyra:** Our focus will be on personalized skincare treatments. We’ll offer consultations to tailor solutions based on individual needs. I want clients to feel empowered and educated about their skincare. Our goal is to bring a level of expertise and service that really sets us apart in Lelystad.
**Editor:** Thank you, Sumeyra! We’re excited to see how Sya Skin Clinic will enhance the local skincare landscape in Lelystad.
**Sumeyra:** Thank you! I appreciate the support and can’t wait to welcome everyone to our new space.
