Switzerland condemns the rocket fire by Hamas and the attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip, which also affect numerous civilians. Switzerland calls for the immediate release of those taken hostage and currently being held in Gaza.
There are currently around 28,000 Swiss citizens and their families officially registered in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory, where they live and have their residence. Around 240 people with a connection to Switzerland are registered in the Travel Admin application. The FDFA is in contact with these nationals on site and supports them wherever possible.
The FDFA helpline has so far received around 230 calls regarding the situation in Israel. These requests come from people currently on site, concerned family members, or people who have planned a trip to Israel in the near future.
The FDFA reminds that Swiss nationals should follow the instructions of the local authorities on site. The decision to leave a crisis area is voluntary and at the risk and expense of the person leaving the area.
Tel Aviv airport is currently open, but commercial flights are limited. The FDFA itself does not carry out any organized departures from Israel. If the FDFA becomes aware of organized departures from partner countries from which Swiss citizens can benefit, a notification will be forwarded to all persons registered at the Swiss Embassy in Tel Aviv and on Travel Admin.
