Switzerland’s Impressive Performance at European Team Championship Secures Maintenance – New Swiss Record Achieved in 4x400m Relay

Objective achieved for Switzerland at the European Team Championship in Chorzow. She took 12th place, synonymous with maintenance. With the program of the 3rd and last day which was not really favorable to them, Switzerland was finally able to maintain a 13-point advantage over the first relegation.

It will thus be invited once more in two years to the next European team championship which will bring together 16 teams.

It was the mixed 4x400m relay that picked up the last points of the maintenance. The quartet of Lionel Spitz, Giulia Senn, Ricky Petrucciani and Julia Niederberger took 8th place in 3’14”22, a new Swiss record.

Italy won the European title with their total of 426.5 following the 47 disciplines. Belgium, Turkey and Norway are relegated.

Diving: Heimberg in bronze

After silver in 2022, Michelle Heimberg picked up bronze in the 3m at the European Championships in Rzeszow, contested as part of the European Games. In the lead before her last dive, the Argovian had to leave the gold to the Italian Chiara Pellacani, the defending champion, and the silver to the Swedish Emilia Nilsson Garip.

Climbing: Clémence in 3rd place

Julien Clémence won bronze at the European Games in Tarnow. The 21-year-old from Lucerne took third place overall behind Frenchman Thomas Lemagner and Latvian Edvards Gruzitis. Among the women, Vaudoise Sofya Yokoyama took sixth place.
