Price level » The increase in consumer prices decelerated in April in Switzerland, thanks in particular to the ebb in the prices of petroleum products. The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, on the other hand, have increased.

During the month under review, inflation stood at 2.6% following 2.9% in March, the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) announced on Friday.

The price index consumer price index (CPI) remained stable in April at 106 points. Prices for air transport, package tours and clothing rose while hotels, some fruit vegetables and fuel oil fell.

Core inflation, calculated over one year and not taking into account the evolution of very volatile fresh produce and energy prices, stood at 2.2%. On the rise, food products and non-alcoholic beverages (+5.4%), housing and energy (+3.7%), leisure and culture (+4.1%) as well as clothing and shoes (+3%).
