“Switzerland will not recognize the results of such referendums because they violate territorial integrity, which is an integral part of the UN charter,” Cassis told media representatives on the sidelines of the general assembly in the United Nations in New York. “We call on Russia to abandon such mock referendums.”

Compatible with neutrality

In his speech during the general debate, Ignazio Cassis had already severely reprimanded Russia and called on it to end the war immediately. It is compatible with neutrality, declared the president of the Confederation in front of the media.

Switzerland will “one hundred percent” respect the right of neutrality. It will not participate militarily in the current conflict. Neutrality, however, does not mean indifference or lack of solidarity, repeated the President of the Confederation in his speech.
