Sahra Wagenknecht, a former parliamentary group leader of the German Left Party, has earned tens of thousands of euros for public lectures over the past two years. The fees were mostly paid by Swiss organizations. In addition to her salary as a member of the Bundestag, Wagenknecht earned almost 800,000 euros in book and lecture fees last year. Her bestseller “The Self-Righteous” earned her 720,868 euros 99 gross from the Frankfurt Campus publishing house. Wagenknecht’s success has caused friction within her ex-party friends, who are critical of her financial gains. A recent lecture has also drawn controversy due to her politically polarizing views.
