  • Switzerland has lifted all corona measures, even the mask has largely disappeared from everyday life.

  • However, anyone who travels abroad over Easter has to be careful: Different rules still apply in neighboring countries and classic holiday destinations.

  • Entry is almost everywhere only possible with a Covid certificate. And masks still have to be worn in many places on site.

After two years of the pandemic and the lifting of all corona measures, the desire to travel among the Swiss is great: flights over Easter cost up to three times the usual price, the TCS assumes massive Easter traffic jams. Anyone who still goes on holiday abroad must be careful not to be surprised by the Corona regulations that are still in force there. 20 minutes shows you what else to look out for in the most important holiday destinations. Important: Always find out regarding the regulations at the destination in good time before departure. The regulations may differ from region to region and are constantly being adapted.

Germany

There are no longer any entry regulations in Germany. Nationwide, the mask requirement in aviation and long-distance public transport remains in place. In addition to an FFP2 mask requirement indoors, individual federal states such as Hamburg also adhere to the 2G Plus rule for clubs.

Austria

In Austria, FFP2 masks are still mandatory in all closed rooms and on public transport. At events with more than one hundred people, either wearing FFP2 masks or the 3-G rule is mandatory. A valid Covid certificate is required to enter Austria. Vienna goes one step further and still stipulates 2G for restaurants and clubs.

Italy

In Italy, FFP2 masks are still compulsory on public transport and most indoor areas. In order to take part in indoor events, to go to the wellness center or to the club, you need the “Super Green Pass”, a 2G certificate. A 3-G certificate is mandatory for visiting a restaurant or a bar as well as for aviation and long-distance public transport. You must also be able to show this when crossing the border.

France

France only requires a mask on public transport and in health and care facilities. A Covid certificate is also only required for visiting health institutions. Anyone wishing to enter the country must be able to prove either their full vaccination or a negative test. If the second vaccination is more than nine months ago, you need the booster.

Spain

The Covid certificate is also required for entry into Spain. This recently released you from the obligation to fill out an entry form. If you want to enter the country without a vaccination, you need a valid test. Until April 19, masks are still largely compulsory in publicly accessible interiors, as well as on public transport.

USA

Anyone wishing to enter the United States must be fully vaccinated. In addition, a negative PCR or antigen test that is not older than 24 hours must be presented. Local rules may vary by state. However, the mask is only mandatory in regions with a high incidence.

Egypt

A negative test or a vaccination certificate is required for entry into Egypt. Attention: The recovered certificate with only one vaccination is not accepted when entering Egypt. Traveling in the country can also be uncomfortable for those who have not been vaccinated: If you want to go to hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs and many other facilities, you must also present a vaccination certificate or a current negative test. Travel within the country is also still restricted in some cases, health checks and, if necessary, Covid tests are to be expected.

Turkey

Proof of vaccination, a test or proof of recovery (not older than six months) is also required for entry into Turkey. Distance rules of at least three meters apply throughout the country. Masks are compulsory in closed rooms where this is not necessary.

Mauritius

Vaccinated guests in Mauritius must be able to prove that they have Covid-19 health insurance. A rapid test is required on the day of arrival. After that, the island is fully open to unvaccinated guests. Those who are not vaccinated must self-isolate in accommodation of their choice for seven days. With a negative rapid test, the isolation can be ended on the eighth day.

With a double vaccination you get a Covid certificate for 270 days in Switzerland. In the EU and in various other countries, the certificate is also valid for as long. If the certificate expires, it can be extended by a further 270 days with a third vaccination. The validity period for recovered certificates has been shortened to 180 days. Recovered certificates are only issued with PCR tests. Attention: Not all countries accept convalescent certificates upon entry.
