Switzerland has 32,150 new cases of coronavirus in 24 hours

Switzerland has 32,150 additional cases of coronavirus on Friday in 24 hours, according to figures from the Federal Office of Public Health (OFSP). We deplore 20 additional deaths and 151 patients were hospitalized.

Seven days ago, the FOPH announced 28,038 cases, or 4,112 less. On the same day, there were 10 deaths and 126 additional hospitalizations.

677 people are currently in intensive care. Covid-19 patients occupy 29.70% of available places in intensive care, with an occupancy rate of 76.70%.

During the last 24 hours, the results of 108,771 tests have been transmitted. The positivity rate stands at 29.6%, down from 29.4% a week ago. The reproduction rate, which has a delay of ten days, is 1.17.

The Omicron variant represents 84.4% of coronavirus cases sequenced or examined in laboratories over seven days, with a delay of regarding two weeks.

According to the FOPH, 161,060 people are currently in isolation following having tested positive for the coronavirus. And 49,762 others who had contact with infected people were placed in quarantine.

In total, 67.77% of the Swiss have already received two doses of the vaccine. Compared to the population over 12 years of age, the proportion of fully vaccinated people amounts to 77.11%, says the FOPH. In addition, 69.99% of people aged 65 and over and 33.04% of the population have already received a booster dose.

Over the last 14 days, the total number of infections is 325,178, or 3,733.66 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. Since the start of the pandemic, 1,666,355 cases of Covid-19 contamination have been confirmed in the laboratory out of a total of 15,832,276 tests carried out in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The total number of deaths is 12,125 and the number of people hospitalized is 41,236.
