Switzerland has 28,038 additional cases of coronavirus on Friday in 24 hours, according to figures from the Federal Office of Public Health (OFSP). We deplore ten additional deaths and 126 patients were hospitalized.
Seven days ago, the FOPH announced 18,950 cases, or 9,088 fewer. On the same day, there were 24 deaths and 128 additional hospitalizations. 691 people are currently in intensive care. Covid-19 patients occupy 33.20% of available places in intensive care, with an occupancy rate of 78.90%.
During the last 24 hours, the results of 95,376 tests have been transmitted. The positivity rate stands at 29.4%, down from 26.4% a week ago. The reproduction rate, which has a delay of ten days, is 1.37.
The Omicron variant accounts for 61.1% of coronavirus cases sequenced or examined in laboratories over seven days, with a delay of regarding two weeks.
In total, 67.45% of the Swiss have already received two doses of the vaccine. Compared to the population aged over 12 years (minimum age for the moment for vaccination in Switzerland), the proportion of fully vaccinated people amounts to 76.75%, indicates the FOPH. In addition, 66.74% of people aged 65 and over and 28.46% of the population have already received a booster dose.
Over the last 14 days, the total number of infections is 239,616, or 2,751.25 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. Since the start of the pandemic, 1,483,167 cases of Covid-19 contamination have been confirmed in the laboratory out of a total of 15,229,894 tests carried out in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The total number of deaths is 11,982 and the number of people hospitalized reaches 40,229.
