– Switzerland swept away by a Foehn storm
This Friday, a hot wind hits Switzerland with significant gusts in the mountains and on the plains. Due to the storm, several cable cars were stopped.

KEYSTONE
A Foehn storm hit part of Switzerland on Friday morning, causing violent gusts. A peak of 128.5 km/ha was recorded in the morning in Diablerets (VD).
Earlier in the night, the wind had also reached 128 km/h in Altdorf (UR), according to data recorded by MeteoSwiss. Strong gusts were also measured in the plains. A peak of 111.6 km/h was recorded in Meiringen (BE), one at 95.4 km/h in Altenrhein (SG).
Due to the storm, several cable cars were shut down or later put into operation, notably in central Switzerland at Rigi Scheidegg and Pilatus.
According to meteorologists, the foehn storm will continue until Monday. Friday and Saturday, it will extend to the plain. Its peak should occur between Friday and Saturday noon.
