Our economic column is gaining height this Thursday. We went to discover the activities of Swisscom Broadcast at the Chasseral branch. This nationwide company is mandated by the Confederation to take care of the country’s radio transmitters. Broadly speaking, the SSR produces the programs and Swisscom Broadcast distributes them throughout the country, thanks to some forty large stations scattered throughout Switzerland. We went to that of Chasseral to find out how it works with the manager for French-speaking Switzerland of Swisscom Broadcast Thierry Rossel:
The company that operates, maintains and builds radio transmitters employs more than 250 people throughout Switzerland. Nearly seventy technicians maintain the antennas located in the heights of the country to allow us to listen to the radio, but not only. After having discovered the first part of the Chasseral antenna, let’s get technical with Thierry Rossel:
The Chasseral branch covers a large part of the Jura Arc. A facility has been in place at this location since 1945. The current station was inaugurated in 1983. /lge
