At the Women’s World Championship in Brampton (CAN), the Swiss team lost 2-3 once morest Czechia in the final for 3rd place. Like last year, the Swiss selection finished 4th.

Already beaten by the Czechs in the preliminary round (2-5), the Swiss did not manage to take their revenge. They had yet opened the scoring in the 12th minute by Lara Stalder on their first shot on target! Unfortunately, they were only able to hold that advantage for 31 seconds before the Czechs equalized and took the lead less than three minutes later.

Lena Marie Lutz equalized well at 2-2 in the 29th minute, but coach Colin Muller’s players conceded a decisive goal in the 38th minute by Denisa Krizova. The Swiss then missed their chance during the last period when they benefited from a double numerical superiority of more than a minute and a half. The sense of sacrifice of the Czechs allowed them to keep their goal in advance.

Thus, the Swiss finish once once more fourth in a great event. Seven months ago at the World Championship, they had already failed at the foot of the podium once morest these same Czechs (2-4). As was already the case in 2021 in Calgary and at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
