Italian press reports said that veteran Italian striker Mario Balotelli was close to leaving Sion, Switzerland, as his club’s fans burned his shirt in the stands following the defeat once morest Saint-Gallo yesterday, Saturday.

Balotelli left the Turkish Adana Super for Swiss Sion in August 2022, and has so far scored five goals in 12 Swiss Super League matches.

According to the “Futbol Italia” network, tension prevailed following the humiliating 4-0 defeat at home to Saint-Gallo on Saturday, which left them in the penultimate position in the Swiss League.

The network indicated that some fans were so angry with the team, specifically Balotelli, that they set fire to his shirt and hung it in the stands.

Although Balotelli scored five goals for Sion, three of them were penalties, and he also received six yellow cards.

There were also insulting cheers when the Italian was substituted, accusing him of not “sweating” for the club.
