Mujinga Kambundji took 7th place in the 100m at the Lucerne meeting in 11”24. The victory went to Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in 10”82. Compared to her first appearance of the season at the end of June in Lausanne, the 31-year-old Bernese has improved her time by 17 hundredths, but these 11”24 are still far from her full potential.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, ten-time world champion and three-time Olympic champion, held her role as favorite. The 36-year-old athlete set a meeting record in 10”82.
Kambundji said she had a good week of training, during which she was able to train at her usual intensity. But her plantar fasciitis in her left foot, which the Swiss record holder has been battling with for months, has delayed her start to the track season and worries her on a daily basis.
At Athletissima, she still felt pain during her race. The fact of having been able to run 17 hundredths faster tends to indicate that the evolution is indeed going in the right direction.

The Swiss in difficulty
The Helvetians did not really shine in central Switzerland. Lore Hoffmann had a great race over 800m. The Valaisanne lowered her best time of the season to 2’00”48 to finish 3rd in a race won by Peninah Mutisya (1’58”76). The Genevan Rachel Pellaud, 5th, also lowered her best time in 2’00”95 minutes.
If Angelica Moser disappointed at the pole with her 4m45, Loïc Gasch had to settle for 2m14 in height. But the Vaudois is coming back from injury.
