The course change of Swiss flight LX38 from Zurich to San Francisco on Saturday followingnoon received a lot of attention in the aviation world. At times, up to 18,000 people tracked the machine on the flightradar24.com platform. At around 4 p.m. the plane, which had taken off from Zurich at around 1 p.m., landed safely at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. As the news portal “AviationSource” writes on Twitter, an ambulance was already waiting at the gate upon landing.
The reason for the reversal was apparently a medical emergency on board, as reported by a Swiss spokeswoman for 20 minutes. It was therefore decided to make an unscheduled stopover in Amsterdam in order to be able to take care of the patient there. Then it will continue to San Francisco as planned. According to the Swiss spokeswoman, the incident caused a delay of regarding an hour.
