“Swiss Federal Council Investigates and Recovers Incorrectly Billed Covid-19 Test Costs”

The Federal Council will investigate suspected cases of incorrectly billed Covid-19 tests. He intends to recover the amounts unduly collected, he said on Wednesday. Cross-sectional analyzes are carried out for this purpose.

The government is thus responding favorably to the requests of the Finance Delegation of the Federal Chambers. Last December, this body asked him to redouble his efforts to discover and prevent unjustified payments.

The tests cost 4.3 billion in total

The Federal Office of Public Health (OFSP) has drawn up a concept for combating abuse and will, depending on the results of the investigations, demand reimbursement of the amounts wrongly invoiced. In this context, the FOPH has already issued its first decisions: it ordered the reimbursement of an amount of 1.8 million francs. He also filed criminal charges.

As a reminder, the Confederation financed test costs of 2.7 billion francs in 2020 and 2021. And another 1.6 billion in 2022, i.e. a total of 4.3 billion. Since January 1 of this year, she no longer pays anything.
