Céline Naef (WTA 157) and Leandro Riedi (ATP 160) are in the final of the Hopman Cup. After Denmark and Holger Rune, the Swiss duo beat France 2-1 in this mixed tournament relaunched in Nice.
Naef certainly lost once morest Alizé Cornet (WTA 68) 1-6 6-3 10-8, but Riedi then equalized for the Swiss side once morest Richard Gasquet (ATP 49) by winning 3-6 6-3 10-8. In the decisive doubles, Naef and Riedi got the better of Cornet/Gasquet 6-4 7-5. They got their first match point following 73 minutes.
Naef and Riedi might thus follow in the footsteps of Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic, who had won the last editions in 2018 and 2019 before the temporary cessation of this mixed competition rich in traditions.
Their opponents in the final will not be known until Saturday. It will either be Spain with Carlos Alcaraz (1) and Rebeka Masarova (72), or Croatia or Belgium.
