Swiss Double: Jasmine Flury Claims First World Cup Victory in Women’s Downhill at Val-d’Isère

A week following Mikaela Shiffrin’s victories in Saint-Moritz (Switzerland), the women’s downhill specialists were back this Saturday during the World Cup stage in Val-d’Isère. The Swiss Jasmine Flury, reigning world champion, won in the Alps and thus signed her first World Cup victory in this specialty.

Swiss double in Val-d’Isère

Starting with bib number 6, Jasmine Flury (1’43”47) beat her compatriot Joana Haehlen (+0”22), who obtained the fifth podium of her career. The Austrian Cornelia Huetter (+ 0”24) completes the podium. Favorite of the event in the absence of Mikaela Shiffrin, the Italian Sofia Goggia finished just off the podium. Second in training on Friday, Jasmine Flury confirms and wins her second World Cup stage, following her victory in Saint-Moritz in 2017 in super-G.

The race was interrupted several minutes following Canadian Stefanie Fleckenstein (bib number 23) fell near the finish line.
