The Swiss won bronze at the European Curling Championships in Aberdeen. They dominated Italy 8-4 following an extra end.

Pablo Lachat, Sven Michel, Yannick Schwaller and Benoît Schwarz had to complete their meeting to validate their medal. It was only on the last stone missed by skip Joël Rétornaz that the curlers of CC Genève were able to savor.

It must be said that the Swiss negotiated this match for bronze perfectly by showing themselves solid in the final ends and retaining the last stone during the extra end, since it was 4-4 following 10 ends. Number 4 of the team, Benoît Schwarz achieved a magnificent penultimate stone to make the task of the Transalpines complicated to say the least and Rétornaz was unable to turn the situation around.

The Scots are too strong

Earlier in the day in the semi-final, the Helvetians failed to disrupt the beautiful Scottish machine at home by losing 7-4. Skip Bruce Mouat and his teammates were able to make the difference in the 8th end. With the advantage of the last stone in this round and already ahead 3-2, the Scots had achieved a three shot which placed them in a more than ideal situation. During the 4th day of the Round Robin of these Europeans, the Genevans had already been beaten by a score of 9-6.
