After several months of negotiations, the Swiss airline, owned by German giant Lufthansa, and Kapers, the cabin crew union, signed a declaration of intent to create a new collective labor agreement (CCT) for cabin crew.

The new CCT is currently being drafted and finalized, Kapers wrote on Friday. The two parties agreed not to reveal its contents, the contract having to be consulted by the members of Kapers from November 10, then put to a vote.

According to the Kapers statutes, a two-thirds majority is necessary for the adoption of the new CCT, continues the union. The voting phase will end on December 20. If accepted, the new collective labor agreement will come into force on January 1, 2024.

New CCT rejected at the start of 2023

The current CCT expires at the end of April 2024. At the end of December 2022, Swiss and the Kapers cabin crew union agreed on a new CCT. But Kapers members rejected the text in a vote earlier this year.

In May, Kapers members voted in favor of terminating the existing collective bargaining agreement, which concerns more than 2,500 employees. The decision was followed in June by the resignation of Kapers vice-presidents Lukas Krupitza and David Martinez. The organization did not indicate the reasons for these departures.
