Korean swimmer Hwang Seon-woo will continue his training schedule despite the postponement of the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
The Korea Swimming Federation announced on the 9th, “The special strategy training team of the Federation for the Asian Games in Hangzhou will train with coach Ian Pope by June 1 as originally planned, regardless of the postponement of the event, and then return to Korea the next day.”
The Korean men’s swimmer is aiming for the first gold medal in the team event at the Hangzhou Asian Games scheduled to be held in September. This is the reason why ace Hwang Seon-woo, Lee Ho-jun, Kim Woo-min, and Lee Yoo-yeon split the current at the Melbourne training ground in Australia.
However, as the postponement of the Hangzhou Asian Games was announced on the 6th, a plan revision is inevitable. Nevertheless, the Swimming Federation is planning to carry out the full training schedule as planned.
Regarding this, Hojun Lee said, “It’s unfortunate, but I have more time to prepare.” He said, “I will focus on the World Championships where you can see the fruits of your training in Australia and finish the rest of the time well.”
On the other hand, the athletes had a time of encouragement by meeting with prospective Korean swimmers who are training at a local swimming club on the 7th.
The players who held the signing event handed out Taegeuk mark commemorative pins, answered student players’ questions, and exchanged words of support.
