Swimming pools closed in the middle of a heat wave in Longueuil

In the midst of a heat wave in Quebec, several citizens came up once morest closed public swimming pools in Old Longueuil on Wednesday.

A total of four swimming pools and four paddling pools were closed in this district, in addition to another swimming pool in another sector of the City.

The City explains these closures due to mechanical breakdowns and a shortage of materials needed to repair these facilities.

“We have swimming pools that lose large volumes of water every day. As an organization, we cannot continue to fill these swimming pools and see them visibly dwindling when we ask the population to pay attention to the quantity of drinking water they use, “explains Jonathan Tabarah, vice-president of the executive committee at the City of Longueuil.

The pools will be closed for the entire summer season.
