Four of the five Swiss engaged Monday morning in Rome in the Europeans in the long pool have won a semi-finalist ticket. Maria Ugolkova signed the 5th time of the series on 200m medley.
Bronze medalist in the discipline at the 2018 European Championships, Maria Ugolkova swam in 2’14″39 to win the first heat. Israeli Anastasya Gorbenko was the fastest (2’13″12), the “iron lady” Katinka Hosszu achieving the 3rd fastest time in 2’13″79.
Ponti, Toscan and Touretski in half
Noè Ponti did not draw on his reserves in the series of the 200m butterfly. The brand new European vice-champion in the 100m butterfly clocked 1’58″09, simply accelerating the pace in the last 50 meters. Second Swiss in the running in this event, Marius Toscan (13th in 1’59″11) will also be present in the semi-finals.
Sasha Touretski also qualified for the 50m freestyle semi-finals scheduled for Monday evening. The Geneva-Natation member won the 13th ticket in 25″51. In the running over 50m backstroke, her club partner Nina Kost, on the other hand, failed in the series (28th in 1’02″71).
