Swimming – Europeans: Noè Ponti wins the 100m butterfly series – rts.ch

Noè Ponti has mastered his subject in the 100m butterfly series at the European Long Course Championships in Rome. The Ticino man set the fastest time.

Bronze medalist at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics in the discipline but “only” 8th at the recent World Championships in Budapest, Noè Ponti achieved a time of 51”56. He produced his effort on the second length of pool following turning in 4th position in the fifth and penultimate series.

Big favourite, world champion and European record holder Kristof Milak finished 3rd in these series, without forcing, in 51”82. The semi-finals of this event are scheduled for Saturday evening (6:34 p.m.), the final Sunday at 6 p.m. at the opening of the session.

Nina Kost eliminated

Second representative of Swiss Aquatics in the running on Saturday morning, Nina Kost however missed her case in the 50m backstroke. She failed in 27th place in the series with a time of 29”23, more than a second from her Swiss record set last year (28”09).
