A Swedish reality contestant has died during the recording of the TV4 program “Berget”.

Norwegian police state that it is a case of illness.

A Swedish man in his 50s has died in connection with the filming of TV4’s new reality program “Berget” outside Narvik in Norway.

The program involves unknown participants climbing Mount Stetind and the man who died was one of the participants.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon and the next of kin have been notified.

TV4: Will investigate thoroughly

The death is confirmed by Karin NymanHR and Communications Director at TV4.

– I can confirm that one participant has died after what appears to be a case of illness. The whole thing is extremely tragic, she tells Aftonbladet.

– We will thoroughly investigate and find out what happened. But now we are working to provide support to the participants, the employees on site and their relatives. All other issues are secondary.

During Thursday, TV4 announces that the death took place at an early stage of the recording. They have not yet made any decisions on whether or not to cancel the recording.

The production company Jarowskij is behind the recording, they do not want to answer any questions but refer to TV4.

The presenter: “Feels unreal”

The presenter is the artist Petter Alexis Askergren. He expressing his sadness over the death in a post on Instagram during the night of Thursday.

“I am shocked! This feels unreal, so sad. My thoughts go out to the relatives,” he writes.

Norway’s police will investigate the death.

But at the moment there is no suspicion of crime, the police want to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.

– It is standard when a person dies without a clear cause of death. We have traveled to the scene and conducted an investigation there and talked to witnesses who are employed in the production, says the police attorney infoclosepolice attorney A Norwegian police attorney is roughly equivalent to a Swedish public prosecutor. Erik Magnus Blomli who is in charge of the investigation.

The police will also go through the production’s video footage from the recording.

Narvik’s mayor: Crisis staff appointed

The production was just at the beginning of the filming period when the incident occurred.

According to Norwegian police, the man has suffered a cardiac arrest, reports NRK.

CPR was started on the spot, but the man’s life could not be saved.

– The person was later pronounced dead by doctors on site, says the operations manager Yngvard Fredriksen to the Norwegian TV channel.

The municipality of Narvik has appointed a crisis team after the incident, the mayor of Narvik told NRK.

TV4 reports on the program’s future

TV4’s new reality series is based on 15 strangers competing to be the first to climb the 1,392 meter high mountain in Northern Norway.

TV4 announces that they will return regarding the television recording and the program’s future at a later stage.
