The people of Gatineau seem to have an easy time swearing. The City ranks first among the places in Quebec where residents use the most bad words.

As funny as it may seem, this is what emerges from a recent survey.

Gatineau is on the first step of the podium in Quebec and third across Canada in terms of the greatest number of coronations used.

This is according to the study of Preply, a company dedicated to language learning.

They interviewed more than 1,500 Canadians spread across the country’s 44 largest cities.

According to the data collected, Gatineau is above the average, which stands at 9 daily swear words.

The Gatineau residents would rather use 13 profanities per day, tied with Regina and Chatham-Kent.

Only one other city in Quebec is in the list, Trois-Rivières, which ranks seventh.

The president of Impératif français did not say he was surprised by these statistics either.

According to Jean-Paul Perrault, it would come from our proximity to Ontario. The mixture of the two languages and the two cultures would, according to him, encourage the use of swear words, particularly when they are used in a context of great emotionality.
