The Walloon Water Company (SWDE) has analyzed all distribution zones to determine the presence – or not – of PFAS in the water, it announced on Monday. All zones are below the threshold of 100 Ng/L, with the exception of that of Fraineux – which concerns the villages of Nandrin, Modave and Tinlot – where an excess, at 141 Ng/L, was noted last week, specifies its spokesperson.
A counter-analysis was carried out. Its results are expected this week. In the meantime, another source supplies the main station, allowing residents to once once more consume distribution water.
No PFAS was also detected in 453 distribution zones.

“The SWDE has accelerated the pace initially planned by increasing the sampling rate initially planned by 50 times to be able to offer a complete view of the presence or absence of PFAS in tap water throughout Wallonia.“, she explains.
This Monday, December 11, the mission is accomplished,” the 640 zones managed by 47 distributors having been analyzed, adds the company.
The latter will now continue its monitoring work “with emphasis on the analysis of water resources at the origin of the presence of the highest PFAS content in the water monitored at the tap. They will complete the analyzes that each distributor will be able to achieve.”
“PFAS controls will be integrated into the 2024 legal control programs of all distributors“, concludes the SWDE.
