On August 31, the SWDE was tasked by the Walloon government with coordinating the analysis of PFAS in distribution water for a period of 18 months. The revelations of RTBF’s ‘Investigation’ magazine on pollution particularly affecting the Chièvres region have accelerated the movement.
“The SWDE has accelerated the pace initially planned by increasing the sampling rate initially planned by 50 times to be able to offer a complete view of the presence or absence of PFAS in tap water throughout Wallonia.she explains. This Monday, December 11, the mission is accomplishedthe 640 areas managed by 47 distributors having been analyzed”, adds the company.
The latter will now continue its monitoring work “with a focus on analyzing the water resources responsible for the highest PFAS content in monitored tap water. They will complement the analyzes that each distributor can carry out.“ “PFAS controls will be integrated into the 2024 legal control programs of all distributors“, concludes the SWDE.
