SV Ried wants to reward themselves with three points tomorrow

REED. On Sunday, May 5th, SV Guntamatic Ried celebrates its 112th birthday – and ideally wants to reward itself with an away win in the 2nd football league against Vienna (10.30 a.m.).

The Innviertel team clearly won the first duel of the season 4-1 – but tomorrow the blue and yellow will probably perform completely differently. “Vienna has a new coach and is trying to play more forward defense,” explains Ried coach Maximilian Senft. With Mehmet Sütcü and ex-professional Roman Kienast, a duo has been running the agenda at Austria’s oldest club on an interim basis for five games. Senft: “I expect an intense game with a high number of counter-pressing moments. In contrast, we will need above all a courageous attitude with the ball.”

Qualities that Philipp Pomer, a native of Vienna, also wants to demonstrate in his hometown tomorrow: The 26-year-old captain of the Vikings has really blossomed again in the last few weeks after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury, scoring as many goals and contributing in the last four games also contributed three assists.

Wawra leaves St. Pölten

Ried is doing everything he can to bind the top performer to the club beyond the season. A contract offer has been made – but other clubs should also be interested in Pomer after his recent performances: such as former club Blau-Weiß Linz.

Another former Linzer is also looking for a new challenge from the summer: Tino Wawra and Ried’s league rival St. Pölten have agreed to amicably terminate their contract. The 44-year-old’s contract would originally have run until 2025.

Wawra moved to the second division SKN last summer after promotion with Blau-Weiß Linz. The German Bundesliga club Wolfsburg was still a big player in the Lower Austrian capital – the collaboration has now ended.
