“We have taken an important step forward,” said Ried sports director Wolfgang Fiala after the 11:0 win against Röthis in the first round of the ÖFB Cup, with which the Innviertel team made a bid for the second division. From Friday onwards they want to be in the title race there, and in the second round of the cup they will face the defending champions: Ried were drawn to play a home game against Sturm Graz.

Aleksandar Dragovic, who has played for the Austrian national team 100 times, is due to undergo a medical check-up for the Viennese team soon.
The duel with the Bundesliga club was made possible by Oedt substitute goalkeeper Sadin Hamzic in the victory after a penalty shootout in Hohenems: The 25-year-old, who is replacing Filip Dmitrovic after his broken upper arm, parried two attempts after the wild 4:4. Hamzic was without a club last season and last played a competitive game for LASK Amateure OÖ in September 2022.
