This is a project that she has been working on for a long time, which has also completed the triptych begun in recent years by her conference-show and her book, both bearing the same name.

More assertive and liberated, the 40-year-old singer admitted, in an interview with the QMI Agency, to have long been haunted by the fact of having abandoned her passion, of having tried to do something else to earn a living, all seeing an immense abyss growing inside her.

“It’s ultimately a return to the heart of who I am, to music, which inspired several songs on this album,” she then explained.

“I had abandoned music, I was doing several things and I was still looking for myself. I felt like a big void inside me and at one point, I had to do some cleaning, assisted of course, but removing the dust, the entire carpet, it was the music that always resurfaced. recounted the singer who began to write little by little and rediscovered the pleasure of singing in her car.

This shift in her life began in 2016. “It was for me the journey to take to feel whole,” she said, inspired.

A simple album

Writing was certainly a saving grace for Suzie Villeneuve. It is also much easier for her to write her own songs than to entrust herself to an author in charge of doing so. It only took him 5, 10, even 15 minutes to write the majority of the lyrics of his songs.

“When it’s hard, it’s because I’m not in the right place,” she added with a laugh, leaning on one of the couches at Piccolo Studios.

His new opus obviously echoes his introspective journey and his learnings of recent years, notably the piece Letter to my angelwhich was written for his son Édouard, and The road togetherwhich evokes the commitment of a couple, of a family, but also the feeling of freedom she feels during her mountain bike escapades.

The singer also covers the piece In my way by Diane Juster, who also agreed to provide the piano score, although she had initially refused the offer.

Christmas and Star Academy

A great lover of the magic of the holiday season – her tree has been made since November 1 – Suzie Villeneuve will have the pleasure of singing the anthem All I Want For Christmas Is Youduring the tour Christmas a tradition in song which will begin at the end of the month in Saguenay.

Then in January, it will be the turn of the show And it’s not over, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the first version of tele-hook, to be on tour in Montreal and Quebec. After rallying the first ex-academicians for the song From dream to realitylast year, Suzie Villeneuve is impatient to take part in the show and is still pinched to see it put on.

“I would never have gone ahead with this idea, a night bubble, before. Bringing my brothers and sisters from the academy together last November was a wonderful experience. And there, to see that everyone is up for redoing the Bell Center, it’s completely crazy,” she said.

The album From head to heart is available on listening platforms. The show Christmas a tradition in song will be on tour until December 23. For all dates, click here:
