Suunto launches the new generation of its flagship smartwatch for sports and everyday use. The Suunto 9 Peak Pro is more durable and powerful than its predecessors, as the Finnish manufacturer reports. With a thickness of 10.8 millimeters, the premium model, which is available in six versions, is the thinnest and one of the lightest GPS sports watches in its class.

The manufacturer was guided by the design on the previous model, the Suunto 9 Peak. Inside, on the other hand, a new chipset is used, as Suunto writes. This improves the performance and at the same time protects the battery. With up to 300 hours of GPS recording in tour mode and a battery life of up to 21 days in normal operation, the new model is the most enduring smartwatch to date. And if the battery is empty, it can be charged to 100 percent within an hour.
Improved user interface, robust housing
Not only the hardware received an upgrade – the Finnish manufacturer also worked on the software: The smartwatch comes on the market with 97 sports modes, whereby users can program their own modes, as the provider writes. In addition, the user interface has received clearer symbols and numbers. In combination with the high-contrast background, the Suunto 9 Peak Pro is easy to read even during sports.

The robustness of the smartwatch also comes into play during sports: According to the manufacturer, the Suunto flagship is waterproof up to 100 meters. The resistance of the optional stainless steel or titanium case has been tested according to the US military standard “MIL-STD-810H”.
The Suunto 9 Peak Pro comes in six different versions. According to the manufacturer, the four stainless steel models are available for CHF 549 (RRP) and the two titanium models for CHF 689 (RRP).
