After the Wiener Rathauskeller, Gerstner Catering and GOURMET Event, the café-restaurant in the KHM and the Joules Bistro in the TMW also received awards for the first time.

Vienna (OTS) “We not only want to inspire our guests with our gastronomic offer and service, but also with our commitment to preserving nature for future generations,” emphasizes Herbert Fuchs, Managing Director of GOURMET. The leading caterer in terms of sustainability recently received the Austrian Ecolabel in the gastronomy module for its café-restaurant in the Kunsthistorisches Museum and its Joules Bistro in the Technisches Museum Wien following a successful audit. The seal of quality is awarded by the Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism to companies with the highest ecological standards and guarantees guests sustainable enjoyment.

“More and more customers attach importance to environmental aspects and sustainable event management when choosing a restaurant or catering. As the bearer of the Austrian Ecolabel, we give you the security that we act responsibly and sustainably, use local and fair trade ingredients and that you enjoy the highest quality with us,” says Herbert Fuchs, Managing Director GOURMET.

Sustainability from tradition

The eco-label awards for the two café-restaurants in Vienna’s museums are not the first for the company. The Wiener Rathauskeller received the seal of quality for the first time in 2003, Gerstner Catering (part of GMS GOURMET GmbH since 2021) received an award for the first time in 2010 and GOURMET event gastronomy has also been the proud recipient of the Austrian Ecolabel since 2015.

Enjoy with a clear conscience, in the café, in the restaurant and at events

What does the highest ecological standard mean at GOURMET? A consistently careful handling of all natural resources – from food, to waste avoidance, energy efficiency to the use of reusable and large containers. The origin of food is particularly important in the gastronomy and catering sector. For many years, GOURMET has therefore relied on predominantly regional, seasonal ingredients from Austria and FAIRTRADE products in its purchasing policy.
