The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) was called around 11:30 p.m. regarding the start of a fire in a business near Henri-Bourassa Est and Rivière-des-Prairies boulevards.

When the police arrived on the scene, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) were already in the process of bringing the fire under control, preventing the flames from spreading.

During their intervention, SIM firefighters who found traces of accelerant on the scene handed over the investigation to the SPVM arson section.

The damage to the building is minor and no one was injured, said SPVM spokesperson Julien Lévesque, who has not announced any arrests in the file for the moment.

A security perimeter has been erected to protect the scene pending the arrival of investigators who will have to determine the circumstances surrounding this event, it was added.

This is the second time in 24 hours that this same business has been targeted by a suspicious fire, since the day before almost at the same time an incendiary object shattered the windows of the building.
