A 35-year-old company president in Kawasaki City was arrested by police for defrauding regarding 7.6 million yen in benefits by applying for fictitious accommodation results by exploiting the tourism demand stimulus “Go To Travel”.
He denies the allegations once morest the investigation.
The suspect was Kaito Konno (35), the president of a nursery school operating company in Nakahara Ward, Kawasaki City.
According to the police, President Konno used the “Go To Travel” system in December two years ago to register multiple rooms in an apartment in Odawara City as accommodation facilities, even though there was no actual use. It is suspected that a total of 80 people stayed overnight during the month and deceived regarding 7.6 million yen in benefits.
There is a suspicion that President Konno was recruiting by writing “side job” on an Internet bulletin board in order to collect the name of the guest necessary for the application.
The police are investigating the suspicion that they repeatedly applied for lies between October and June last year and deceived a total of 40 million yen in benefits.
In response to the investigation, President Konno denied the allegations, saying, “I have not committed fraud.”
