Suspected Trump assassin left letter with plans

The letter – addressed to “the world” – states: “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, but I have disappointed you. I tried my best and gave everything I could muster.” He offered a reward for whoever would complete the deed.

By publishing the letter and other investigative findings on the case, the public prosecutor’s office wants to ensure that the 58-year-old remains in custody. A hearing is scheduled for Monday. Ryan Wesley Routh is accused of possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obscured serial number. It is expected that further charges will be brought against him.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, the letter was in a box that the 58-year-old had left with an acquaintance before the crime. It also contained ammunition, a metal pipe, various building materials, tools, four telephones and other documents. The acquaintance opened the box and informed the police after hearing about the crime, it was said.

No bullet fired

A week ago on Sunday, the Secret Service shot an armed man hiding in the bushes at Trump’s golf course in Florida. The suspect did not fire a bullet and fled, but was arrested and charged shortly afterwards. Court documents show that Routh’s cell phone was at the crime scene for around twelve hours beforehand – and thus he himself was too.

On November 5, former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris will face each other in the presidential election. Two months ago, Trump was attacked in the state of Pennsylvania. He was slightly injured.
