In the midst of new developments in the investigation of the murder of Catalina Gutiérrez, Néstor Soto remains detained at the Bouwer prison and is the main suspect in the crime that has shocked Córdoba.
Gastón Schönfeld was appointed on Monday as the defense attorney for the accused and shared details about Soto’s condition: “He is very remorseful.” In that same vein, he added: “He has shown great remorse and has entrusted us to take on his defense. He is in a state of shock, very distressed,” he emphasized in a dialogue with the press.
Up to this point, Soto is charged with simple homicide and the crime could escalate to aggravated homicide due to premeditation and gender-based violence. In this regard, the lawyer added: “The prosecutor’s office informed us that they are analyzing the case. Based on the information they have, they will verify what the applicable charge is, whether it will be modified or not.”
He also mentioned that Soto’s mother traveled after learning what had happened: “She is in a state similar to or worse than Néstor’s. She is a woman who lives in San Carlos de Bariloche and traveled because her son contacted her and gave her the sad news.”
