Arnhem
The man who, according to the Public Prosecution Service, provided approximately 640 portions of the suicide drug X, had Alex S. from Eindhoven as his supplier. The 80-year-old suspect Loek de L. from Haarlem confessed this on Monday on the first day of the criminal case in the court in Arnhem, where he and six other members of the Last Wil Cooperative (CLW) are on trial for involvement in supplying the suicide drug. .
Last summer, the first criminal case regarding drug X was filed with the court in Den Bosch. Alex S. (30) was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison, of which 1.5 years were conditional for supplying the deadly drug. S. is said to have sent it to at least 1,600 people. The case is still on appeal.
In the Arnhem criminal case, De L. is one of two suspects who have been charged with actually providing drug X and thus assisting suicide. The others are on trial for participating in a criminal organization.
Living room conversations
De L. sold the drug, among other things, during living room conversations or to people who had attended these group sessions, he said. “Those people then received my telephone number. Then I had a personal conversation with them and delivery might be made if necessary.” De L. gave serious interested parties, provided they were members of the CLW, the choice of picking up the drug or having it delivered personally or by post. They received an anti-emetic and an extensive leaflet of nine A4 pages. De L. said that S. initially supplied him with powders and later capsules, “in a ready-made package with the anti-emetic.”
On July 26, 2021, the police raided De L.’s home in Haarlem. The suspect told the judges that he wanted to stop his practice just the day before. He initially estimated that he had delivered fifty packages per year over four years, but according to calculations by the police and the judiciary, it was 640. “I didn’t count it. There was and still is that much interest,” said the suspect.
Illegal pharmacy
The police also found an illegal pharmacy at his home. According to De L., he did not trade the pills obtained from S. “It was curiosity. I was like a collector.”
The criminal case continues on Tuesday with the discussion of the files of the other six suspects. The sentencing requirements are expected on Monday, April 15. The court hopes to make a ruling on July 2.
