Susi Air pilot from New Zealand Philip Mark Mehrtens was successfully released after 1.5 years of being held hostage by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya. Authorities ensured that the release was without ransom.

Head of Public Relations Task Force for the Cartenz 2024 Peaceful Operation, Senior Commissioner Bayu Suseno, hopes that after the release of the Susi Air pilot, the KKB will always be aware and return to the bosom of Mother Earth.

“Hopefully in the future, KKB will become aware and return to the bosom of motherland,” Bayu emphasized to Media Indonesia, Sunday (22/9).

“Let’s build this country together in a better way than taking up arms which will harm ourselves and others,” he added.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, September 21, Philip was successfully picked up by the Joint TNI-Polri Team which is part of the Cartenz 2024 Peace Task Force.

Bayu explained that Philip was successfully freed and picked up by a joint team in Yuguru Village, Maibarok District, Nduga Regency and immediately flown to Mako Brimob Battalion B/Timika.

Yes, that’s right, today we managed to pick up Pilot Philip in good health. Our pilot flew from Nduga directly to Timika,” explained Bayu. (Ykb)
