The Indian batsmen’s performance underlines Hardik Pandya’s confidence to bat first. Initially, Ishan Kishan was bowled by Madhushanka, but everyone who came following him was crushed in Rajkot. Rahul Tripathi, who came third, lit the fireworks.
The player hit 35 runs off 16 balls including five fours and two sixes. Tripathi returns in the last over of the Powerplay. Karunaratna put a full stop to Tripathi’s run. Suryakumar Yadav, who came in at his regular number four position, was the kind of batter who did not allow the Sri Lankan bowlers to settle down.

Gill scored 46 runs off 36 balls with two fours and three sixes. Hardik Pandya 4(4) and Deepak Hooda 4(2) came back quickly but Suryakumar’s rampage continued. Wide yorker, short ball, length ball, slower delivery..there is no arrow that the Sri Lankan bowlers have not tried.
But Suryakumar’s reply was to send back all the arrows that came at him with ten times speed. He brought up his third century in Twenty20 Internationals off the 45th ball. Six fours and eight sixes were hit from the star’s bat till then. It is also the second fastest century by an Indian player in T20Is.
Later, the player scored 112 runs without getting out following hitting one four and six each. Axar Patel, who came in at number seven, dominated the last overs. Axar scored 21 runs from just nine balls including four fours.
The hosts entered the decisive match without changes. Avishka Fernando replaced Bhanuka Rajapakse in the Sri Lankan line-up. Both the teams are tied with one win each in the three-match series. Whoever wins today’s game can clinch the series.
