Survey: The majority of the public believes that the Constitutional Court’s decision will be fair – 2024-04-23 09:30:25

The Indonesian Political Indicators SURVEY noted that the majority of the public believes that the Constitutional Court (MK) will hand down a fair decision at the General Election Results Dispute (PHPU) trial regarding the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). The MK will read out the decision on Monday, April 22.

“73.2 percent believe the Constitutional Court issued a fair decision,” said the main researcher of Indonesian Political Indicators, Burhanuddin Muhtadi, in the release of a virtual survey entitled ‘Public Perceptions of Law Enforcement, Presidential Election Disputes at the Constitutional Court, and Current Post-Presidential Election Issues’, Sunday, ( 4/21).

This number is respondents who are aware of the PHPU related to the 2024 presidential election at the Constitutional Court. Meanwhile, 23.9 percent of respondents did not believe the Constitutional Court would issue a fair decision and 2.9 percent did not answer.

Meanwhile, the total percentage of all respondents from this study who were also asked the same thing was not much different. As many as 71.8 percent believed the Constitutional Court’s decision was fair; 21.2 percent do not believe it; and 7 percent did not answer.

Indonesian Political Indicators also conducted research related to the presidential election dispute on the voter base of each presidential and vice presidential candidate pair. Here are the results:

1. Believe that the Constitutional Court issued a fair decision

– Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar: 47.7 percent.

– Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD: 70.8 percent

2. Do not believe that the Constitutional Court issued a fair decision

– Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar: 47.3 percent.

The Indonesian Political Indicator Survey was carried out on April 4-5 2024. The poll was carried out by telephone by interviewers involving 1,201 respondents. The methodology used is simple random sampling. The margin of error for the survey is approximately 2.9 percent and the confidence level is 95 percent. (Z-8)
