According to an OGM survey commissioned by ServusTV, the SPÖ gained four percent in the Sunday question with Hans Peter Doskozil as the top candidate and would have a 24 percent share of the vote. This would clearly overtake the ÖVP (20). The FPÖ would still be in first place with 26 percent. Greens and NEOS would each have ten percent, the KPÖ eight.
With Andreas Babler, the SPÖ reached 26 percent. The ÖVP (23) and FPÖ (28) would then hardly lose any votes and would still have a majority in seats. The Greens (8), Neos (9) and KPÖ (4) perform visibly weaker in an SPÖ led by Babler, which means that neither a three-party SP-Green-Neos coalition nor a four-party left-wing coalition with the KP can achieve a mandate majority.
