Survey Reveals Alarming Rates of Teacher Rights Violations in Elementary Schools

A survey result showed that 99.2% of elementary school teachers answered that they had experienced a violation of their teaching rights during their teaching career.

In a survey of 2,390 elementary school teachers across the country from the 21st to the 24th, the National Elementary School Teachers Union revealed that 99.2% of the total, or 2,370, responded that they had been infringed upon.

As for the type of violation of teacher authority, ‘parents’ malicious complaint’ (49.0%) was the most common, followed by ‘refusal, ignorance, and rebellion once morest legitimate life guidance’ (44.3%), ‘parents’ verbal and assault’ (40.6%), and ‘student’s verbal and assault’ (34.6%).

About 2,000 teachers participated in the case of infringement of teacher rights within four days. Among the contents of the complaint, a number of parental verbal abuse that insulted the teacher’s personality were included.

Jeong Su-kyung, head of the Elementary Teachers’ Union, said, “Through this survey, we were able to see once once more the seriousness of this problem.” “Without teachers, there is no education. Please protect not only educational activities but also teachers so that education can stand upright.”
