In the state of the hospitalized Roman Kostomarov, there is a positive trend, but recovery will take some time, two unrelated sources surrounded by the skater told RBC Sport.

“There is a positive trend. But the recovery process will be slow. Roma is a fighter,” one of the interlocutors said.

Kostomarov was hospitalized January 10 with unilateral pneumonia. In Kommunarka, the skater was connected to an ECMO machine for two weeks (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, used in case of acute severe respiratory failure). On January 25, it became known that he still needed artificial lung ventilation (ALV).

Kostomarov, along with Tatyana Navka, won gold at the 2006 Olympics in ice dancing, and also won two world championships and three European championships.
