From Antwerp to Arlon to eat a burger: the judge makes fun of their explanations
It is rare that the reasons for a judgment come out of the austere judicial language. Judge André Jordant came out of the usual reserve to humorously justify his sentence once morest two Dutchmen from Breda who were intercepted on the E411 with 17 kg of cannabis.
”Their explanations are of the highest fantasy, notes the judge. They explain that they came from Antwerp to eat at Quick d’Arlon. While the court can understand the appeal of this excellent fast food chain, it is absolutely not credible that they came from Antwerp (as they claim) or Breda (as the investigation shows) in this aim. Admitting that there is no Quick in the Netherlands, it must be noted with certainty that there are many in the Antwerp region.”
Aldi in court: rodents and their droppings found in several stores
The Aldi stores in Lontzen, Bütgenbach, Eynatten, Athus and Florenville as well as the Vaux-sur-Sûre depot are concerned. We found there, for all or in part, droppings and traces of rodent urine, dead mice, and even packages on the shelves gnawed by pests…
The quote of the week
“The life of this family has changed. Since then, they have been crushed by the judiciary, by the experts and by the insurance company.”

In Tenerife for a “long-term vacation”, she received 33,500 euros in unemployment benefits
Catherine (assumed name), was not present before the Namur criminal court on Wednesday. “She’s in Tenerife”, her adviser, Me Lambert, immediately specifies. That’s the problem with the case. The defendant refers to “long-term vacations”. She met a diver with whom she made her life on this island… But forgot to report him in Belgium and fraudulently received 33,500 euros in unemployment benefits over a period of 5 years.
Amount that ONEM intends to recover.
He throws a cobblestone on a bus
But what might have gone through the head of this Bertrigeois! ? On June 13, 2022, he took a chair from the terrace of a café to strike the window of the bus shelter near Bertrix Hall several times. Then he returned to the square, grabbed a Nadar barrier and threw it into the glass door of a snack bar”. He is intercepted by the police completely drunk, and placed in a cell. Not enough to calm the young man who kicks the walls, bangs his head once morest the cell, and breaks the peephole. It took two doses of Valium to calm him down.
Three days later, the Bertrigeois is doing it once more! He throws a cobblestone at a passing bus. The driver stops the bus, gets off to see the damage. The young man then grabs a steel pole and walks towards her, threatening.
The other quote of the week
“Losing her child is probably the worst thing for a mother. Madam has all my empathy. I understand that in such a case, we can no longer find sleep and that the nights are haunted by a question that keeps coming back: Why? What might have happened?”

“The protagonists are small”: nearly 4 years following the events, the hearing of witnesses sheds little new light
In December 2022, the Dinant criminal court ordered the hearing under oath of several witnesses in a case of assault and battery, dating from June 30, 2019. That evening, a man who left the “Soirée Plage” in Frasnes ( Couvin) was attacked by several people.
Given the denials of the defendants and especially the arguments of the defense which evoked the laxity of the police and the failures of the investigation, the court had ordered the hearing of witnesses in order to see more clearly. Sufficient input for new lighting?

A tennis match, with balls full of drugs, at the prison
Two men were sentenced by the Criminal Court of Arlon. Far from being altar boys, as their legal pedigree attests, they have invented a new sport. Racket in hand, they sent tennis balls above the walls of the prison of Arlon, balls filled with cannabis which landed in the courtyard and were recovered by prisoners.
A pedophile already sentenced in assize takes 4 years for having “groped” a minor in a campsite in Tintigny
Éric Boclinville, sentenced by an assize court for rape of a minor, did it once more at the Tintigny campsite. The facts took place on September 4, 2021, at the Deux-Eaux campsite in Tintigny towards a kid from the Charleroi region, who was enjoying his last days of vacation there before the start of the school year, accompanied by his grandparents. Boclinville used all the tricks to coax the child, offering him fishing trips on the banks of the Semois, or inviting him to eat chocolate sandwiches in his tent.
Two particularly worrying factors were stigmatized in the recitals of the judgment. The criminal record includes two challenging convictions: in 1994, the Assize Court of Liège sentenced him to fifteen years of hard labor for raping a child under 10 and for indecent assault with violence on a young under 16 years old. In December 2020, the Verviers Criminal Court sentenced him to one year in prison for attempting to hire a minor for debauchery and prostitution. It was to hide this criminal past that he registered at the campsite under an assumed name.
