In previous years, the price of crab will decrease following Tet, but this year, this item remains at a high level, so farmers are excited because of the increased profit.
On February 13, according to reporters, in Ca Mau province, brick crabs were bought by traders at people’s homes for 700,000 VND/kg; The best (over 300 grams/head) 320,000 VND/kg and the fourth (under 300 grams/head) 250,000 VND/kg.
Mr. Nguyen Van Minh (65 years old; living in Nam Can district, Ca Mau province) said that he has been engaged in farming crabs for more than 20 years under the forest canopy. In previous years, the price of crab will decrease following Tet and only increase once more when it is near to Thanh Minh. However, this year, this item remained at a relatively high level, so the farmers were all excited because of the increased profit.
“Today, I ordered more than 4 kg of commercial crab, thanks to the high price, I earned nearly 3 million. If nothing changes, the price of crab will continue to increase sharply in the coming days” – Mr. Minh said excitedly.
According to many senior farmers in crab farming in the southernmost province of the country, sea crab seed when released is very small in size, just as small as a pepper. After 6 months of stocking, crabs will have bricks and weight above and below 300 grams/fish.
Ca Mau sea crab is raised under the mangrove canopy, so it has sweet meat, lots of bricks and is considered by consumers to be the best crab in the country. The model of multi-culture farming in shrimp squares has helped people’s lives to be constantly improved and enhanced.
